When I signed up to go to Grand Cayman with Underwater Safaris back in mid-November I thought that a couple of days away from winter in February would be nice. What I didn’t know is that it would be a full on escape from one of Chicago’s worst winters in recent (and, some might add, not so recent) history.
When I left Chicago on Monday I had a pitiful 8 dives logged in my 2 years of PADI Open Water certification. This morning I doubled that number and will triple it before I leave town on Saturday. Yesterday I dove my first wreck and this morning I went to 98 feet as a part of my Advanced Open Water certification. Tonight will be my first night dive.
